Lake Tahoe
August 20-21, 2005

Saturday starts with a hike around Lower Echo Lake

But the stone doesn't move :-)

A narrow strait called Interlaken between Lower and Upper Echo Lakes

Entering rocky Desolation Wilderness

Reaching Tamarack Lake

Fit for the though ones

Swimming in snow-melt with some snow still in the background

Waiting for the water taxi at Upper Echo Lake after an exhausting hike :-)

Here it comes

A duck enjoying the warm shallow water

Cruising back to our starting point

Approaching Interlaken

Going through

Watching the sun set from Lake Tahoe

The day is almost over

Taking the boats to sleep

A hike near Kirkwood on Sunday

Creek crossing

The still functional Lost Cabin mine barely visible through the trees

Blue skies and happy man in orange

At the steering wheel

Christof and an old giant

The first contact with snow today

We are above 9,000 feet

Green meadows and more snow our direction

Arriving at Round Top Lake

Ready for a well-deserved lunch break

Round Top at 10,380 feet

The next goal is the nearby Winnemucca Lake

Another crossing

And we reach the shore

Heading down through green grass and colorful flowers -- quite a contrast to the dryness at home

With damaged but not broken wings

We later arrive to Woods Lake and find a perfect spot for a nap

Including a swim

Really refreshing

Wished we could have stayed longer in this serene place
