Montara North Peak
January 7, 2007

My goal is to make Imola tired on a hike

Off we go from Montara State Beach

Deceivingly pretty

The hills don't look like much

But the road keeps going uphill

Through giant pampass grass

I think I'm going to succeed: her first break

Start of the tunnel construction at Devil's Slide

We gained some elevation

She needs another stop

Pacifica and San Francisco appear through the clearing

Lagging behind

Finally reaching North Peak at 1898 ft

One of the best hikes

San Mateo Bridge

A smile after eating an apple, three small brownies,
and a horrible-tasting ginger cookie (the only food we had)

A car on the hillside - this used to be the old road to Pacifica

Going down, thinking about food all the way

Waiting for the Suppenkuche to open, we stop at Twin Peaks

Alcatraz

Downtown in the afternoon sun

Mission accomplished. Small breakfast, no food was key.

While most people stand on the first peak

We have its twin to ourselves

It's 5pm, so we head to a well-deserved dinner
